Christopher J Davies Photography

"Photography is about capturing what you see in a light that best

illustrates the subject. These elements come together precisely and the

photographer's shutter freezes that exact moment in time. When I look back

at my photographs, I can remember each instance like yesterday".

Born in Queens in 1959, Christopher Davies was introduced to photography at

an early age by his Grandfather who photographed weddings on weekends and

owned a camera shop in New York City. In high school, Davies inherited his

Grandfather's cameras and joined the high school photo class. His teacher was

famed teen photographer Joseph Szabo.

At seventeen he won a statewide photography contest and received a full

scholarship to the New York School of Media at SUNY Buffalo. This is where

he met photographer/teacher Peter Laytin, who was a protege at MIT under

Minor White, who was one of the most influential photographers of the second

half of the twentieth century. During that summer, Davies fell in love with

Black and White Infrared Film, a Minor White mainstay and learned how to see

in a different light.

During the years Davies has photographed Rock Stars, Politicians,

Events,Landscapes, Surrealism, Architecture/Real Estate and Commercial photography assignments. Since 2002, he has published Wine Country International magazine, a glossy print publication dedicated to wine, food & travel.
